The Cheese and Grain is a not-for-profit, member owned social enterprise and also a registered charity. Its main aim is to promote and boost Frome’s social, cultural and economic life.
You don’t have to be a member to use the Cheese and Grain and everyone is welcome at our café and bar.
It’s free to join.
Every year we hold an annual member’s meeting (the Annual General Meeting – the AGM). This is the meeting where the membership elects the Board of Trustees. There’s plenty of time at the AGM to meet other members.
Want to join now? contact us and ask to be sent a membership form, or ask at the box-office.
Anyone can hire our hall, meeting rooms, foyer or hot-desks. See the hire page for more details or call 01373 455 420.
The Cheese and Grain has an important role in Frome because we can host meetings, large (up to 500 people in the main hall) and small (up to about 30 people in our mezzanine).
Our Box Office is open Monday – Friday 9am – 8pm and Saturday 8am – 8pm. Sundays we are open during events only.
Call 01373 455420 or come and see us.!
Holding your own events or performance? It doesn’t matter where; we can sell tickets on your behalf, as we often do for other local venues, and events, including a range of outdoor music festivals. Our website gets over 20,000 site visits a month and so lots of people will see the publicity for your event. Tickets can be bought on-line, over the phone and in person at our seven-day/seven-evening a week box office.
We are sorry but we cannot refund tickets unless we cancel the show.
Our policy is children over 10 years for our live music events unless specified. We do not allow babes in arms.
To book online our charges are £1.50 per ticket.
Telephone and In Person Bookings via our box office are £1 per ticket.
Ticket Charges Explained:
The Cheese & Grain have made a large investment and commitment to providing a ticketing service to ensure we can sell our own tickets and not rely on ticket agencies (who will charge you considerably more than £1.60).
In order to do so we must add the costs of operating a staffed booking service, labour, IT equipment, the commission charges our Spektrix ticket system charge us, software development, card transaction fees, ticket stock and all other costs associated with running a secure and customer centric ticketing service.
If you want your tickets posted the charge is £1.50

We hold our Roots free music sessions most Wednesdays – the best in local professional musicians
Hall hire for good causes – local registered charities can apply for reduced hire fees for the main hall
Doing our bit for the environment
The Cheese and Grain has won a Green Markets award. We won this because we generate, using roof-top solar PV panels, much of the electricity we use. We are fitted out with latest LEDs lighting that use 75% less electricity that standard bulbs, we are keen recyclers and dispose of our waste responsibly.
Keen to improve
