This January the Cheese and Grain Artist of the Month is Frome artist Suzanne Woodward.

Suzanne usually gets her best ideas whilst walking through the Dippy in Keyford in the morning with her dog “Truffles ” before starting work.

Her paintings are colourful and elemental, and are based on memories, musings and dreams.Sometimes she incorporates fragments of stories and images from world mythology. The pictures are made using water based mixed media on paper. She starts off using the ink resist technique and likes to work with layers of watercolour and gouache.

Suzanne trained at Falmouth school of Art and Manchester University and was an Art teacher in Kent and Manchester before moving to Frome in 2004, where she now lives with her family.

She is a member of Frome Open Studios, Frome and Bruton art societies and Frome Voices and also works at the Frome branch of Oxfam when she is not painting.

Suzanne’s exhibition at the Cheese and Grain in Frome runs until the end of December.
