Our Artist for February is local photographer Nik Palmer with his exhibition Under Alien Skies

In 1965, a young photographer named Gordon Faulkner captured an image of an alien space craft flying over Cley Hill. Subsequently, Cley Hill became the centre for the highest number of UFO sightings in the UK.

Over the last five years Nik Palmer, a long-time resident of Frome, has been enjoying photographing the Cley Hill Landscape from misty mornings to golden sunsets, and while there are no aliens in any of his photos, his aim has been to portray the other worldliness of this magical place.

As well as being a keen photographer, Nik is an award-winning international puppeteer and puppet maker and director of Noisy Oyster. “ I am lucky to be able to combine my love of photography with work trips to far flung and exotic places though this often reinforces my belief that the beauty and diversity of the English countryside is hard to beat”.
