This course explores many of the events and movements, along with the men and women involved in them, which have helped shape Britain throughout the centuries.

From the fourteenth century Peasants Revolt and the Levellers and Diggers of the English Civil War period to Liberal radicalism, the major Reform Acts of the nineteenth century, along with the twentieth century labour movements and Thatcherism in the 1980s, the enduring myth that the British people are a conservative nation will be dispelled forever.
