Christina Rossetti is regarded as one of the greatest nineteenth century poets that lived, as well as being integral to the Pre-Raphaelite movement. In 1853, she came to Frome and stayed for nearly a year. Although dismissed by many of her biographers as an ‘unhappy period in her life,’ it was, in fact, one of the most influential and defining twelve months of her life.
In this session you will discover how the town influenced her life and writing, as well as the wider context of the Pre-Raphaelite movement and what it means to Frome.
