Our Line up for the night:

The Mighty Rooster:

“The Mighty Rooster are a five piece folk-rock band who have been plying their trade around the country since 1997. Their blend of rock, folk, progressive and other influences is completely unique and impossible to define. Musical excellence is combined with powerful vocals and a refined melodic taste. Recently re-formed, the band have supported a wide range of acts at the Cheese and Grain, but it is time for this great band to step into the spotlight before gracing festival stages later this Summer.”

Ruth Blake:

Ethereal songstress Ruth Blake writes multi-faceted and poignant folk, rich with symbol and story-telling, weaving hypnotic guitar riffs and tender poetry with rambunctious offbeat grooves and playful word-smithery. Her voice first captivated audiences on the conscious music scene as she accompanied Young Steinway Artist, Edward Chilvers, on his debut album of songs, Change Your Mind. She soon crowd-funded and released her own debut album, Lullabies for Grown-ups, in December 2015, stunning fans with her subtle yet heart-hitting artistry with voice and guitar. That same year she was hailed “destined for greater things… channeling the spirit of Joni Mitchel” by Drowned in Sound at Cambridge Folk Festival. In 2018 she released her second studio album, the colourful Creation, with stunning cover art by Francesca Booth. Rich with uplifting melodies and multi-part harmonies, this album echoes the warm, rich tones of 60s psychedelia; weaving non-dualist philosophy with myth and magic, and radical self-acceptance with a call for humanity to wake up and step up to its fullest potential. Ruth is a member of the Music as Medicine collective and BrightSky Community, and her voice features on the debut albums of many other artists emerging on the scene, including the nomadic James Frost and Manchester’s dark-funk ensemble, Caulbearers (both due out later in 2020) . She is currently preparing for her third studio album.

The Moonshiners:
