Frome Voices first sang Handel’s Messiah when it was formed in 2012. Since then the choir has gone from strength to strength.

The Messiah must be the most frequently performed choral work of its type. Written in 1741 and first performed in Dublin, it is, ironically, probably the least typical of Handel’s oratorios. Rather than telling a story it is a far more thoughtful piece, reflecting on the birth, death and resurrection of Christ.

Whether you are a believer or not, it is hard not to be swept along by the expansive choruses or moved by some of the beautiful writing for solo singers. Frome Voices are a choir of 140 voices and we are delighted to be performing the music with a fine baroque orchestra and four professional soloists.
