Ahead of his first-ever Glastonbury Festivals performance, the legendary GARY NUMAN comes to Frome for an unmissable, intimate warm-up show!

Presented by Hit Or Miss & Good Shout Events

Pioneering electronic music icon Gary Numan returns to the UK to perform at Glastonbury Festival for the first time in his storied career. The night before his highly anticipated set he will warm up with a special performance at Frome’s Cheese and Grain. Known for hits like “Cars” and “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?”, Numan rose to fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s, becoming a groundbreaking figure in synth-driven music, despite early resistance from the music industry and media.

Originally from Hammersmith, London, Numan (born Gary Webb) had a challenging childhood and was later diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, which shaped his struggles with social interaction and education. Music and machinery were his passions, and he channeled both into a unique electronic sound after discovering a Moog synthesizer in 1978.  Despite early chart-topping success, fame overwhelmed him and critical backlash led to a career dip in the ’80s. He regained his artistic confidence in the ’90s, thanks in part to his wife Gemma, and returned to form with 1994’s Sacrifice. Influential artists such as Nine Inch Nails and Damon Albarn helped reframe his legacy.

Today, Numan is celebrated as a musical innovator with an enduring independent spirit. His 22nd album, Savage (Songs From A Broken World), is a dystopian concept record inspired by climate change and global collapse, featuring darker, heavier music. Written in part during the Trump era, it explores themes of survival, morality, and the resurgence of religion in a ruined world. Numan continues to manage his own career and create uncompromising music on his own terms, staying relevant and respected across generations.
