Enjoy loose watercolours and immerse yourself in the painted landscape with your friendly and experienced coach Catherine. Catherine is a watercolour specialist and experienced SAA tutor. Each week she will help those starting out look at different aspects of this lovely medium; from how to maintain bright colours, control running paint, plan compositions, to how to suggest sunlight.

When Catherine is not demonstrating her craft, she works to exhibition and commissions and writes about watercolours. Currently she has a watercolour of Catherine Hill hanging in the Bath Society of Artists Exhibition and a portrait of her sons in the Society of Women Artists Annual Exhibition.

Course structure:
Each five week half term would consist of five topic areas – from, colour, tone, light, atmosphere. Each topic will be looked at twice using different subjects.

Weeks one and six (18/1 and 1/3) we will look at building different forms using different brush techniques.

Weeks two and seven (25/1 and 8/3) will look at the colours and colour mixtures available.

Weeks three and eight (1/2 and 15/3) would be all about saving white paper and building dense tone.

Weeks four and nine (8/2 and 22/3) are about representing light in your watercolours.

Weeks five and ten (15/2 and 29/3) are about atmosphere, mystery and the imagination.
