SP413 – The World Beneath Your Feet – Geology Around Frome

Have you ever wondered why Frome has a river running through it, or a leat running down Cheap Street? Or why the historic buildings are built mainly of limestone and not red bricks? And what type of stone are those rail wagons carrying that travel everyday along the trainline?

These and many more questions will be addressed in this new course that explores the often-unseen world of geology, where each week you will be taken on a journey of discovery and explanation, including learning of the achievements of William Smith, father of English geology, who lived and worked in the area.

Each 5-week block will cover separate topics (it is not necessary to have done the first to enjoy the second).
