Thirty years ago, in 1996, Far-Cue kicked open the doors of a sleepy Somerset town and have never looked back since.
Born out of frustration, fuelled by cheap beer and a refusal to watch music become polite, Far-Cue set out to do one simple thing: make gigs fun again. What was meant to last a month has become a three-decade charge at the heart of Frome’s music scene, louder, faster, and more defiant with every passing year.
FOREVER AT THE FOREFRONT
For 30 years, Far-Cue haven’t just been part of Frome’s scene; they have been the ones shaping what it means to be a Frome band.
They are the only band to have played every single Frome Punk Festival, because how can you have a punk festival in Frome without Far-Cue? The one constant in a scene that has grown and evolved around them, while others have come and gone they have always been leading the charge. From sweat-soaked pub floors to sold-out shows at the Cheese and Grain with the likes of Stiff Little Fingers, and even Glastonbury Festival, Far-Cue have been there and seen it all.
Always A Pleasure, Never A Chore!
Albums recorded in single blasts.
Songs written at breakneck speed.
No gloss. No polish. No compromise.
From Ta through to Another Day At The Office, Far-Cue’s back catalogue is a testament to sheer bloody-minded persistence. Line-up changes, break-ups, make-ups, broken strings, broken bones, none of it stopped them. Because stopping was never the point.
Gigsgigsgigs. Bedrooms. Bike shows. Festivals. The lot.
If your boat doesn’t come in, swim out and meet it, and Far-Cue have been swimming for three decades.
30 YEARS. ONE BAND. ONE TOWN.
This isn’t just an anniversary show.
It’s a celebration of Far-Cue’s undying spirit.
Of every sticky-floored venue.
Of every kid who picked up a guitar because they saw Far-Cue and thought, “That looks like a laugh.”
Thirty years on, they’re still here.
Still loud.
Still real.
Still Frome’s.
Far-Cue: 30 Years of Noise.
And they’re not done yet, if that isn’t worth celebrating, then we really don’t know what is!
Please note this is an 18+ all standing event, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. If you have any enquiries please email thetreehouse@cheeseandgrain.com
