Vedic Chanting with Elaine Marie Ewens; Tuesday, 7-8.30pm, 5 week term at Christchurch Hall
Steeped in ancient wisdom, Vedic chanting remains deeply relevant today, exploring timeless themes of health, peace, light, courage, trust, and our place in the world.
Chanting in the resonant language of Sanskrit can bring clarity, calmness, confidence, improved breathing, and emotional balance. Meditative and reflective in nature, these chants gently support and steady you in any state of mind.
Unlike the euphoric, musical expression of kirtan, which focuses on devotion through call-and-response, Vedic chanting is more inward, and deeply contemplative—offering a profound path to stillness and self-awareness.
Elaine warmly invites you to explore this powerful practice of sound in a fun & friendly supportive circle of students. You’ll learn simple & more complex chants, the Sanskrit alphabet, and the meaning and modern relevance of the Vedas.
No singing ability is needed—if you can talk, you can chant. We meet weekly & there will be a 10 minute mid-session break to have a bite to eat/drink & chat.
Miss a class? Attend another one of Elaine’s classes that term, plus you will have access to sound recordings of all the chants if you wish to practice in your own time. The class is held in person at Christchurch hall, however there will be an option to join the group via Zoom if you wish.
Elaine is a compassionate, qualified Vedic Chanting teacher with over 24 years’ experience.
