From the frozen highways of Canada to massive festival stages around the world, Northcote has built a reputation as one of modern folk-punk’s most commanding and road-worn voices, and this October, he’s bringing that raw grit and soul to Frome.
Northcote is the musical project of Canadian singer-songwriter Matt Goud, known for his heartfelt songwriting and dynamic live performances. Since launching in 2008, Northcote has toured internationally, performing alongside artists such as The Gaslight Anthem, Frank Turner, Hot Water Music and many more while building a loyal fanbase across North America and Europe.
In 2026, Northcote is set to release To Cherish, a full-length album recorded at Rain City Studios in Vancouver and produced by Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung). The project showcases an evolved sound with contributions from a talented ensemble of musicians including Paul Rigby (Neko Case) and long-time collaborator Stephen McGillvray.
Northcote has released seven studio albums and multiple singles, steadily growing an audience through powerful, emotionally resonant performances in intimate venues and major festivals alike. With over 42,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and a strong social media presence, Northcote continues to expand his reach, aiming for a sustainable international career while contributing meaningfully to the music community.
Special guest Tom Jenkins ended 2025 as the BBC Radio Wales Artist of Year in recognition of his critically acclaimed fourth album ‘When The Coal Dust Settled’ a concept album on working class Wales and the oppression of mining communities, inspired by his family of coal miners and hill farmers.
As word of this album spread, it would gain praise State Side giving him the honour of being the first ever Welsh Artist to open for Willie Nelson at his Ranch in Texas.
A story like no other, Jenkins cut his teeth as traveling shepherd / Sheep shearer, and rancher, writing his debut album in the New Zealand outback. ‘Misery In Comfort’ was tracked in Fort Worth, Texas and released in 2019 gaining him instant recognition from Oscar and Grammy winning singer song-writer, Ryan Bingham, who invited him on his tour of Ireland and the UK, before the album came out.
Now with four albums under his belt in 5 years, his back catalogue holds a broad mix of sounds, somewhere between alternative, Indie-folk with a splash of country, collaborating with the likes of the late, Phil Campbell of Motörhead and Marc Ford of The Black Crowes in various expansive album projects. The variation in sound has led to tours and support Slots with the likes of Bastille, Megan Moroney, Frank Turner, Cardinal Balck, Katherine Priddy and Kids In Glass Houses.
