Planet Earth is a remarkable place today. It has been continuously evolving over the 4.5 billion years since formation, having suffered ice ages, catastrophic meteorite impacts, mass extinctions, violent earthquakes, flooding, drought, global warming, oceanic acidification, and spectacular volcanic eruptions.

These events, some of which are interconnected, have all left their marks in the geological record, and as geologists, we learn how to recognise them. This course will explore the scientific evidence, and what the implications are for the future of our unique planet.

No previous knowledge is required, just an inquisitive, open-mind!
