Frome Town Council has committed to supporting the Cheese and Grian in its efforts to massively reduce its carbon footprint. The venue is looking at ways to generate electricity, reduce its use of gas, improve recycling, and encourage more customer-use of public transport and EVs. Ambitious and challenging with technical issues to overcome, but the benefits include protection from power cuts and massive saving on bills, protecting jobs both at the C&G and with suppliers and sustaining the local visitor economy. The first step, this autumn, will be more rooftop solar panels and batteries to create its own off-grid electricity supply.
