Frome Friends of Palestine present “Liwan” a short film telling the story of a “cultural café” in Nazareth created when the old market of Nazareth was a no-go area, following an Israeli ‘apartheid’ clearance project and has driven revival of the souq and Palestinian identity. This is followed by a talk from Sally Azzam Cook, co-founder of Liwan. A second short film, “My Neighbourhood” follows 11 year old Mohammed, and his unarmed resistance when his family home is invaded by Israeli settlers in Sheik Jarrah, East Jerusalem. Palestinian-themed food will be available from 6.30pm (extra charge).
