AU210 British Politics in the 20th Century

Politics and politicians shape our lives and create the modern world in which we live; most of which has its basis during the turbulent Twentieth century.

This course covers those hundred years, with each session focussing on succeeding decades and includes the prominent politicians, elections, and the major issues of the day. From scandals and strikes to wars and the welfare state, from Lloyd George and Churchill to Harold Wilson and Margaret Thatcher, the making of modern Britain can therefore be seen to have happened here, with its many ramifications still affecting us today.
