As the 1930s was drawing to a close, it seemed ever more likely that Britain was heading towards war with Germany. Yet, there were those in the country who would do anything to maintain peace with Hitler, irrespective of the cost. At the same time, there were those who secretly sided with the German leadership and envisaged an alternative future for Britain in which they would play a major part. Played out against the landscape of an ideological battlefield between Fascism and Communism, and including events such as the German Olympics, Battle of Cable Street, Edward VIII’s abdication, The Spanish Civil War, Munich Peace Agreement and the Phoney War, this was one of the most tumultuous periods in British history; the outcome of which still echoes down to the present day.
