Win, and England are through. Lose, and it’s over. It doesn’t get much bigger than this.
Believe it or not, the Three Lions remain unbeaten in this World Cup. But questions are beginning to grow. Declan Rice at right-back? Who should be playing on the wings? Surely we can’t keep relying on Kane and Bellingham? And what is Henderson even doing anywhere near the squad?
England now face World Cup co-hosts Mexico in their own capital city, at the cathedral of football that is the Estadio Azteca. Mexico have looked increasingly dangerous throughout the tournament and will not only have a whole country behind them, but the altitude too.
It will also be England’s first match at the famous stadium since the “Hand of God” quarter-final defeat to Argentina at the 1986 World Cup. To book their place in these quarter-finals, they’ll need a very special performance.
With hundreds of fans joining us at the Cheese and Grain for every England game so far, we’ll be doing our bit to recreate the carnival atmosphere of this game. The unique setting, the late-night kick-off and the biggest screen in town make this an unmissable night/morning for any football fan.
Tell work you’ll either be very late… or very early on Monday morning. Either way, this is one you don’t want to miss. Football’s Coming Frome. Come on England!
